ISO 9000 - Quality Management System
The ISO 9000 family addresses various aspects of quality management and contains some of ISO’s best known standards. The standards provide guidance and tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements, and that quality is consistently improved.
ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system and is the only standard in the family that can be certified to (although this is not a requirement). It can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. In fact ISO 9001:2008 is implemented by over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries.
Quality Management Principles
The standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement. Using ISO 9001:2008 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products and services, which in turn brings many business benefits.
Checking that the system works is a vital part of ISO 9001:2008. An organization must perform internal audits to check how its quality management system is working. An organization may decide to invite an independent certification body to verify that it is in conformity to the standard, but there is no requirement for this. AS9100 certification qualifies PCB manufacturers like EPC as viable partners for aerospace, defense, communications and commercial applications. Achieving AS9100 qualification is an arduous feat. Manufacturers that hold this status adhere to the industry's most stringent guidelines and regulations. Thorough audits are conducted each year by an external party, Perry-Johnson Registrar (PJR), to maintain AS9100. JCP (Joint Certification Program)

Electro Plate Circuitry (EPC) is ITAR-compliant. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of United States government regulations that control the export and import of defense-related articles and services on the United States Munitions List (USML).These regulations implement the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), and are described in Title 22 (Foreign Relations), Chapter I (Department of State), Subchapter M of the Code of Federal Regulations. The Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) interprets and enforces ITAR. Its goal is to safeguard U.S. national security and further U.S. foreign policy objectives. The related Export Administration Regulations (Code of Federal Regulations Title 15 chapter VII, subchapter C) are enforced and interpreted by the Bureau of Industry and Security in the Commerce Department. The Department of Defense is also involved in the review and approval process. Physical enforcement of import and export laws at border crossings is performed by Customs and Border Protection, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security.
For practical purposes, ITAR regulations dictate that information and material pertaining to defense and military related technologies (for items listed on the U.S. Munitions List) may only be shared with U.S. Persons unless authorization from the Department of State is received or a special exemption is used. U.S. Persons (including organizations) can face heavy fines if they have, without authorization or the use of an exemption, provided foreign (non-US) persons with access to ITAR-protected defense articles, services or technical data.

Conflict of Minerals | Metals Declaration
Title XV of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act contains several specialized disclosure provisions. Section 1502 requires persons to disclose annually whether any conflict minerals that are necessary to the functionality or production of a product of the person, as defined in the provision, originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or an adjoining country and, if so, to provide a report describing, among other matters, the measures taken to exercise due diligence on the source and chain of custody of those minerals, which must include an independent private sector audit of the report that is certified by the person filing the report. Certain aspects of this rule-making will require consultation with other federal agencies, including the State Department, the Government Accountability Office, and the Commerce Department. Persons are not required to comply with these rules until their first full fiscal year after the date on which the Commission issues its final rules.
Electro Plate Circuitry supports the humanitarian goal of ending violent conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and in the surrounding countries, which have been partially financed by the exploitation and trade of “conflict minerals”. EPC will support the objectives of the U.S. legislation on the supply of “conflict minerals” by:
- Taking the required steps to source from socially- and ethically-responsible vendors while encouraging our customers and suppliers to reciprocate.
- Asking our vendors to conduct due diligence within their supply chains to assure that specified metals are being sourced only from:
- Mines and smelters outside the “Conflict Region” or
- Mines and smelters which have been certified by an independent third party as “conflict-free” if sourced within the “Conflict Region."
- Asking vendors to complete the conflict minerals declarations using the EICC/GeSI Conflict Minerals Reporting Template.
